Skylar Spence - Prom King
This is a longtime fave. This is by the musician also known as Saint Pepsi who created the "future funk" genre, a mashup genre built on taking hundreds of samples of classic soul and funk music and editing it into something new. This album was his attempt at going "legit", so to avoid the impossibility of sample clearance at that scale he recorded new snippets of music to use to recreate that style.
It came out back when my wife and I were first dating, so we listened to it a ton back then - still makes me think of those days.
