Various Artists - Vancouver Seeds 3
This is a compilation album of local bands I stumbled into at Red Cat. Vancouver Seeds is a really long-running music competition, and this album has the winners from the 1985 edition. The winners here are all very 1985 - it opens with a couple of classically melancholy new wave tracks, but also has some AOR and closes with a metal track.
As you might expect from something like this, most of these bands didn't end up going pro and are really hard to find on Youtube, but the full album is streamable for free at the Museum of Canadian Music: https://citizenfreak.com/titles/327483-compilation-vancouver-seeds-3
